2 Cups Ricleand Long Grain Cooked White Rice

1 Cup Onions (diced)

4 to 6 Carrots (diced)

4 Celery Stalks (diced)

½ Cup butter

3 Tablespoons All-Purpose Flour

4 Teaspoons Curry Powder

8 Cups Chicken Broth (2 boxes)

1 Cup Cooked Chicken (diced)

1 Teaspoon Salt

¼ Teaspoon dried Thyme

Man taken to hospital after being hit in head several times with vase

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Jonesboro Police said they were
dispatched to the 300 block of Garden Manor Drive in reference to a man with a
gun and an assault.

After some investigation and an on foot chase, officers
arrested 21-year-old Cedric K. Bell for second-degree battery and fleeing.
Police alleged Bell was the man responsible for breaking 18-year-old Marquis
Treyshun Jenkins's hand and beating him repeatedly with a vase.

Shopper looks out window to find her car on fire

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – A shopper got a big surprise when she looked outside the store and found her car on fire.

According to the Jonesboro Fire Department, a woman's car caught fire in the TJ Maxx parking lot Wednesday afternoon.

The woman told the fire department that speedometer was acting up when she parked, but didn't think it was very unusual. Soon after, while shopping the woman saw her car on fire.

JFD was able to keep the flames from spreading to nearby cars.

No one was injured in the fire.

On Wednesday morning CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) held its Light of Hope Breakfast at the Hilton Garden Inn in Jonesboro.

The annual event allows CASA volunteers, supporters and potential donors a chance to hear about the problems facing abused and neglected children in Your Region 8.

Craighead County tops the number of cases in the 2nd Judicial District, which includes Clay, Craighead, Crittenden and Poinsett counties.  In 2011 there were 1,300 founded cases of child abuse in Craighead County alone.

Museum to host Native American Day

Museum to host Native American Day

 

If you're looking to learn more about Native American culture head to the Matilda and Karl Pfeiffer Museum and Study Center in Piggott.

"Native American Day" will be taking place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, September 15.

An American indian village complete with tepees and displays will be set up.

Amateur archeologist R.W. Lyerly of Ash Flat will be on hand to discuss the archeological digs he's been on and identify artifacts brought in by guests.

Knappers will demonstrate knapping, which is how Native Americans made arrowheads.

A couple of men who entered the Sonic restaurant on Stadium Boulevard late Tuesday night didn’t want a Route 44, but all the money in the register.

Restaurant employees were closing up for the night when they say two black men, armed with a handgun, entered the business at 2604 S. Stadium and demanded all of the money.

An employee, who was counting the money in the register, told police both men were approximately six-feet-four and weighed 110 to 120 pounds.

Jonesboro police say it wasn’t potato chips they found in a Pringles can but pot.

Officers discovered the hidden dope Tuesday while conducting a probation search on Latony Sims’ apartment in the 2700-block of Curtview.

According to Officer Blake Bristow’s initial report, as soon as he walked through the door he “detected an odor of green marijuana in the living room.”
