Healthcare association appoints St. Bernards official

 

Chris B. Barber, president and chief executive officer of St. Bernards Healthcare, has been appointed to the Council of Regents, the legislative body of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE).

Barber, who holds the status of fellow in ACHE, took office at the Council of Regents meeting during ACHE’s 55th Congress on Healthcare Leadership last week in Chicago. As a regent, he represents ACHE’s membership in Arkansas.

Historian takes aim at state's last legal duel

 

On the morning of September 6, 1863, as the Union army marched toward Little Rock, Confederate generals L. Marsh Walker and John S. Marmaduke faced off in a duel.  It was the last legal duel in Arkansas and will be the subject of discussion at the next meeting of the Shaver Camp-Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV).

Historian Jay Kaffka of Mountain View will present "Gen. Marmaduke and Gen. Walker Duel" when the group meets at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, at the Fishboat Restaurant, 3905 E. Nettleton Ave. in Jonesboro.

Wrestling event to help local Cub Scouts

Wrestling with what to do this weekend?

Cub Scout Pack #66 has the fun pinned down.

They invite you to come out to the B.C. Lloyd Building on the Greene County Fairgrounds in Paragould this Saturday, March 24, to see the Royal Wrestling Alliance in action.

The doors open at 5:30 with the first bell ringing at 7 p.m.  

The night's main event will feature a tag-team throwdown between Ricky Morton and Handsome Jimmy Valiant against Dirty Lil Dave and Sarge O'Riley/Hollywood Jimmy.

Tickets are $10.

Auction offering kid-friendly horses

If you're looking for a kid-friendly horse, then Big E's Riding Academy's spring auction is the place to be today.

The sale will start at 1 p.m. at the Jackson County Saddle Club in Diaz next to George Kell Park.

32 head of "kid broke" horses of various sizes, breeds and colors will be available, including Tennessee Walkers, Missouri Foxtrotters and quarter horses.

All horses have current coggins.

Cash and checks with a bank letter of credit will be accepted.
