Jonesboro Library wants your kids to get Act!vated | Arts & Culture
A couple of very active performers will be taking the stage in Jonesboro today
The Act!vated Story Theatre will be featured in two performances. Hosted by the Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library, this duo will be running, dancing and jumping their way through their performance. You can catch the show at 10 a.m. at the Parker Park Community Center or at 2 p.m. at the Mall at Turtle Creek in Suite 101 near Toy Castle.
The Act!vated Story Theatre provides a high energy show for children of all ages and their families.
“We will be offering two stories dealing with ambition, especially chosen to reflect the theme of the summer reading program,‘Dream Big,’” said David Goza. He and his wife Kimberly have been performing for more than 20 years all across the United States. They visit the CCJPL quite frequently.
Their show includes a blend of physical comedy, music, mime, dance, zany props, sign language and a lot of audience participation.
He said this type of performance is important for children. “It exposes them to live theatrical entertainment that incorporates a number of performance idioms and styles. It gives them a deeper appreciation for folklore and for various cultures. It stimulates their imaginations and tickles their funny bones,” said Goza.
All of the programs offered by CCJPL are free. Below is the list of off-site programs planned for this summer:
- June 27th: The Groove Club and “The Musical Slumber Party” concert
- July 11th: Leonardo playing an interactive, live concert with fun songs
- July 18th: Wild Goose Chase Theater featuring a shadow puppet show
- July 25th: Rocky Clements’ “Show of Wonders”
