Burglary suspect flips power switch after he's caught on camera | Crime
Jonesboro police say a man switched off the power to a local business, but not until after he was caught on camera trying to break in.
Just before 5 a.m. Friday, Officer Nick Dean was dispatched to Flash Market #9, 910 Magnolia Rd., regarding an attempted burglary.
The manager told Dean when she arrived she found the store’s front door glass broken out. Lying on the ground by the door was a red wooden hammer handle. The head of the hammer was 8 feet away inside the breezeway, according to Officer Dean’s report.
At 1:25 a.m. a white male was captured on the store’s surveillance video trying to pry open the door, Dean reported. After 3 minutes the man knocked the glass out, then walked away. A few moments later, the power to the building was shut off and the camera went dead, according to the report.
While investigating, Officer Dean found the breaker box had been opened and the switch was in the off position.
A storage shed had also been entered and ransacked, but the manager was unsure if anything had been taken.
The hammer pieces were collected and placed into evidence.
