Jonesboro man accused of sexually assaulting young girl | Crime
A Jonesboro man is charged with second degree sexual assault after police say he put his hands in a young girl’s pants.
On Thursday, March 14, police arrested 26-year-old Nathan Lee Kelly.
The victim told police while she was staying with Kelly on Monday, March 11, he got into bed with her and “attempted to put his fingers down her pants.” The girl said Kelly also “put his fingers between her butt cheeks.”
The child told police that Kelly, who had been “drinking and smoking weed” with several other people earlier that night, was “drunk” at the time, according to Officer Jo Carol Carter’s report.
The child’s clothes, including the pajamas and underwear she had on at the time of the reported incident, were bagged and submitted into evidence.
After speaking with Carter, the child was taken to the Children’s Advocacy Center where she described the events to Andrew Willis, an investigator with the Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children division.
Willis reported the incident to the Child Abuse Hotline for investigation.
Kelly is currently free on bond awaiting an appearance in court on April 26.
