Police investigating rash of car break-ins | Crime
Credit cards, a couple of books and a shotgun.
Those are just some of the items thieves stole from four vehicles Monday night in one Jonesboro neighborhood.
The break-ins all occurred within a 1.5 mile radius of each other off South Caraway Road.
One of the break-ins occurred in the 1600-block of Latourette Lane where someone stole a tote bag and a wallet containing numerous debit/credit cards.
The victim said she was “unsure” if she had locked her car doors, but said it was “abnormal for her not to.” Police said they found no signs of forced entry.
Officers did find the suspects on store surveillance video using the stolen credit cards at two convenience stores on Stadium Boulevard. The video, however, was “not clear enough” to get a good description of the suspects, according to the report.
Just across Caraway Road, thieves broke into three more vehicles.
In the 4000-block of Kents Place crooks stole $4 in change and 12-gauge pump-action shotgun from an unlocked pickup truck.
From a car in the 2400-block of Glenn Place, thieves took a bag containing a two-way radio, a pair of Maxell headphones and two books. The victim told police she found the bag in a ditch behind her house. She said the car was unlocked.
Locked doors did not prevent someone from breaking the front passenger window out of a Jeep parked in the 2500-block of Bonnie Jean and stealing a $130 Vera Wang purse containing a wallet full of debit/credit cards. In exchange, police say they found a baseball-sized rock in the SUV’s front seat.
