Man arrested for 'huffing' stolen air duster in store bathroom | Crime
A Jonesboro man was arrested Wednesday morning after police say he stole a can of air duster from a local store then used it in the store bathroom.
Just before noon officers were called to Hastings, 1315 S. Caraway Rd., regarding a theft that had occurred.
Employees told police Michael Ray Hammett, 21, had taken a two-pack of air duster from the shelf and entered the store’s restroom.
A worker said he followed Hammett into the bathroom and heard him “huffing the air duster,” according to the initial police report.
Officer Ben Stone reported Hammett was “unsteady on his feet, his speech was slurred and he acted like he was in a daze or unaware of his surroundings” at the time of his arrest.
Hammett was taken to the Craighead County Detention Center where he was charged with theft of property under $1,000; breathing, inhaling or drinking intoxicating compounds; and outstanding warrants from the city of Trumann.
His combined bond for the charges was set at $1,395.
