JPD arrest suspected pistol-packing panty thief | Crime
A Pocahontas man lost his concealed carry license after Jonesboro police say he stole 7 pairs of women’s thongs from a store while carrying a loaded handgun.
Jonathan S. Ahle, 29, is charged with shoplifting $1,000 or less.
Around 2:30 p.m. Thursday officers were called to Walmart, 1815 E. Highland, regarding a shoplifter who had run from the store. He was last seen running behind Fazoli’s toward Douglas McArthur Junior High School, according to the initial police report.
Corporal Danny MacDonald reported seeing a man, later identified as Ahle, matching the suspect’s description walking in front of the school.
When MacDonald approached him, Ahle handed his driver’s license and concealed carry permit. Ahle then admitted he was armed, the officer reported.
During a search, MacDonald reported finding a loaded 9mm Taurus handgun in a holster on Ahle’s right hip and a knife in his right rear pocket.
The officer confiscated the weapons and secured them in his vehicle.
Ahle reportedly told the officer he worked at a local hospital and was “just out for a walk.”
MacDonald said he noticed “bulges” in Ahle’s front pockets and checked to see what was inside. He reported finding several pair of women’s panties, the same items reported stolen from Walmart.
Ahle was arrested and transported to the Craighead County Detention Center where he was left in lieu of a $770 surety bond.
According to the police report, Ahle’s vehicle was towed from the scene at Walmart. His handgun was seized and logged into evidence at the JPD.
Ahle’s concealed carry license was also confiscated and sent back to the State of Arkansas.
