Man accused of sexually assaulting twin girls | Crime
Jonesboro police say a man confessed to letting a young girl masturbate him. But, he told detectives it only happened once.
On Wednesday Michael Dewayne Shelly appeared in District Court to answer a charge of sexual assault.
According to court records, Shelly is accused of watching pornography while in front of a pair of 7-year-old twin girls.
Shelly is their mother’s boyfriend. He reportedly babysits the girls while she is at work.
The girls told their non-custodial father during a recent visit to his home in Clarendon that “Shelly had done something to them,” according to the affidavit.
After questioning the girls, the father then contacted the Clarendon Police Department which in turn contacted Jonesboro police and the case was reported to the child abuse hotline.
The girls were then questioned at the Child Advocacy Center by Arkansas State Police investigators.
The girls reportedly said Shelly regularly watches pornography on a laptop computer. According to the court documents, he will occasionally let the girls watch it with him.
On more than one occasion, according to the records, Shelly was naked.
One of the girls told investigators Shelly “put her hand on his penis and masturbated him until he ejaculated.”
According to the affidavit, the disclosure appeared to be credible.
Detective Mike Branscum of the Jonesboro Police Department contacted Shelly and interviewed him.
Branscum told the court Shelly “confessed that he had let one of the girls masturbate him while he was watching pornography.”
But, Shelly reportedly told the detective “this only happened on one occasion.”
According to the records, one of the victims said it happened “several times.”
