Want to return an item? Better buy it first | Crime
In order to return an item to a store, it helps if you actually purchased it.
Police say Parisse R. McKinney, 32, and Preresa L. Jones, 24, loaded about $225 worth of toys into a shopping cart then made their way to the service desk at the Parker Road Walmart, according to the initial police report.
The store’s loss prevention officer, who was watching the women, told police McKinney and Jones then returned the items, which they had not purchased, for a refund.
After the transaction was completed the officer, along with the assistant manager and co-manager, stopped the women then called police.
Jones was arrested and cited for theft of property. She was taken to the Craighead County Detention Center where she was held in lieu of a $770 surety bond.
McKinney was also charged with theft of property. While investigating the report, Jonesboro police learned she was also wanted on outstanding warrants, non-payment of fines and public service work. She was taken to the CCDC and held in lieu of a $770 surety bond and a $1,075 cash-only bond.
Both women were ordered to appear in court on May 13.
All of the merchandise was recovered at the scene.
