JPD: Man attacked while walking at Craighead Forest Park | Crime
A Jonesboro man’s walk in the park ended with a trip to the hospital after another man attacked him with a knife.
The victim told police he went to Craighead Forest Park around 10 o’clock Sunday night to take a walk.
According to the initial police report, the man parked his car at Access 6 and began walking around the lake on the roadway.
When he approached the boat ramp on the north side of the lake, the victim said a white man, whom the victim said he had never seen before, walked up to him and asked “What’s up?”
The victim told police the suspect then pulled a folding knife from his pocket, flipped it open and slashed at him with it.
The victim raised his arm in defense and was cut on the forearm.
The suspect then apparently hit the victim in the face before running to a car parked near the boat ramp and driving off.
The victim described the car as a white or silver Dodge, possibly a Charger or Avenger.
Following the attack the man called 911 then walked toward the park entrance where he was met by police.
Several officers searched for the suspect, but were unable to find him.
The victim was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
