Facebook used to I.D. women who dined and ditched | Crime
A couple of women may “like” Don Jose Mexican Restaurant on Facebook. But, chances are the feeling is not mutual.
Wednesday night Jonesboro police were called to the downtown restaurant, 311 S. Main St., after two women walked out without paying.
The manager said the women, who were regular customers, had spent two hours in the restaurant and consumed $34.97 in food and drinks.
When it came time to pay up, the women walked out. When an employee tried to stop them, he said they “took off running.”
The manager said the women were “friends” of the restaurant’s Facebook page and was able to identify them to police.
The manager called the women’s phone numbers listed on their profiles, but both suspects had their phones turned off.
According to the initial police report, the women face misdemeanor charges of theft of services.
According to the restaurant’s Facebook page, they’re still “friends.”
