Man arrested for possessing meth pipe, baby laxative | Crime
A Jonesboro man is being held at the Craighead County Detention Center (CCDC) awaiting a bond hearing after police say he was found with a broken meth pipe and a bag of baby laxative.
James Lee Burns, 36, is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a counterfeit substance and tampering with physical evidence; all felonies.
According to the initial police report, Burns was a passenger in a Chevy Blazer that was stopped for speeding Monday afternoon.
After learning that Burns was on suspended imposition of sentence, Officer Trey Dupuy conducted a search of the vehicle and reportedly found a broken meth pipe in the floorboard where Burns was sitting.
Dupuy also reported finding a white plastic container in Burns’ left front pants pocket.
While being transported to the CCDC Burns reportedly told Dupuy “he was stupid” and had shoved a bag into his pants. But he said it contained “baby laxative and not meth,” according to the report.
At last report, Burns was awaiting a probable cause hearing.
