Thieves steal air conditioning units from church | Crime
Whoever stole two large air conditioning units from a Jonesboro church must be heading for someplace hot.
According to the police report, someone stole two ground units from the Greensboro Road Church of Christ, located at 2008 Old Greensboro Road, sometime between Sunday, Sept. 8, and Wednesday, Sept. 11.
Randy Oden, a church elder, said when he arrived at the church Wednesday night he noticed some parts of the building were not cooling.
When he went to check on the units, he found they had been cut and removed from their connection points to the building, the incident report stated.
While investigating, Oden and Officer Jason Chester found one of the units on the eastside of the church building. The wiring and copper lines had been damaged.
Oden was not sure if the unit could be repaired or if the church would need to replace it.
The other a/c unit was not located.
Both units are valued at $2,400 each.
Although there are no suspects, the report noted the church does have a camera system. The video will be checked to see if it can provide any suspect information.
