Hours after his release, smiling suspect arrested for same offense | Crime
Just hours after he was released from jail on public intoxication charges, a Jonesboro man was back behind bars on the same charge.
David Allen Marshall, 38, was all smiles as he was booked into the Craighead County Detention Center Monday night.
But residents of an apartment complex in the 1700-block of South Church Street were not smiling when they called police to report he was passed out in their parking lot.
Officer Jeremy Smith who responded to the scene around 6 p.m. said that once Marshall was awake he “seemed disoriented” and had “slow and slurred speech.”
Smith also noted in his report that Marshall was “swaying back and forth” and “his pants had fallen down almost to his knees exposing his underwear.”
While the officer patted him down, Marshall reportedly said he had “just gotten out of the Poinsett County Jail” that morning for public intoxication.
After being released and arriving home, Marshall said he began to drink again, the report stated.
Marshall was taken to jail where he was cited for public intoxication and given a Sept. 25 court date.
While at the jail Marshall consented to a portable breath test, Smith stated. He registered a .19.
