Woman chases after would-be burglar with a butcher knife | Crime
When a man tried to break down her door, instead of grabbing a phone and calling 911 a Jonesboro woman grabbed a knife and went after him.
The victim told police she and her boyfriend were inside her home in the 4300-block of Aggie Road when they heard a “very loud noise” coming from the front door just before 9 p.m. Monday.
The woman went into the living room and realized that someone was hitting the door “very violently,” according to Officer Shane Fox’s incident report.
While her boyfriend went to put on his shoes, the woman grabbed a butcher knife and went to the door. Finding it jammed, she then ran out the back door to confront the suspect.
When the suspect saw the woman round the corner of the home, he ran down the steps and into the front yard between two other homes, the report stated.
According to the woman, the suspect “then turned and pulled a black semi-automatic handgun from his waistband and aimed it at her.”
After the frightened woman ducked behind her home, the suspect ran west between two trailers then turned north toward the roadway.
Hoping to get a better look at him, the woman chased after the man. When she lost sight of him, the woman got “scared” and ran back to her trailer, Officer Fox reported.
A neighbor told police he heard a loud noise coming from outside the home. When he stepped out he saw a man “wearing all black” running down the street with the woman “following close behind,” the report stated.
Upon closer inspection of the home, Fox stated he found several muddy footprints on the front door. The door also sustained “extensive damage to the door and door frame.”
A canine unit was called in and a track was initiated, but officers were unable to locate the suspect who was described as a slender African-American man, approximately 6’2” tall, wearing all black.
