Police: Woman tackles, beats man who broke into her car | Crime
When a Jonesboro woman found a man sitting in her car Halloween night she didn’t think it was a trick.
According to police, she knew he was up to no good and treated him to a beat down.
On Friday Judge Keith Blackman found probable cause to charge Chad Hensley, 23, with breaking or entering/articles from a vehicle, theft of $1,000 or less from a vehicle and public intoxication.
According to police records, around 11:30 Thursday night a woman stepped out of her home in the 900-block of North Caraway to find Hensley sitting in the driver’s seat of her 2001 Chevy Impala.
Hensley “told her he was a cop then took off running,” the initial report stated.
He didn’t get far.
According to Officer Bobby Swan’s report, the woman “chased down Hensley and tackled him.”
She then struck Hensley “several times” before a friend pulled her off and called police.
When officers arrived they found Hensley “hardly able to stand and very unsteady on his feet.”
“He seemed very intoxicated,” Officer Andy Gossett reported.
While searching Hensley, the officer reportedly found approximately $91 that the woman said she had in her car.
Police say Hensley also had several other items in his possession, including a car radio, sun visor organizer, cell phone charger, a cell phone case and air freshener.
