WWI vet's monument "dug up" and stolen | Crime
This is Claud Hindman's gravestone at Strawfloor Cemetery in Jonesboro.
Born in 1895, Claud was veteran of World War I who died in 1956.
For 56 years this brass plated monument trimmed in gold has marked his final resting place.
Then, sometime between March 1 and April 12, someone entered the cemetery and dug it up!
On Tuesday, April 17, Hindman's widow, Bobby, reported the stolen monument to Jonesboro police.
An officer searched the surrounding area but found nothing. The officer, however, reported the area where the gravestone was located appeared to be dug up.
No other monuments were missing.
If you have any information that can help police find this missing monument, call the Jonesboro Police Department.
