A Jonesboro homeowner got a rude awakening Tuesday morning when a car slammed into the side of his house.

The crash happened just after 2 a.m. in the 1700 block of Ridge Oak Lane.

According to the Jonesboro Police Department report, 53-year-old Walter Brunkhorst of Jonesboro, was apparently traveling on Penny Lane when his 2007 Nissan Versa left the road, traveled down a hill and hit the house.

Brunkhorst was reportedly found slumped over the passenger seat, bleeding from a head injury.

He was taken to St. Bernards Regional Medical Center where he was treated and administered a blood alcohol test.

Brunkhorst was issued a citation for DWI-2, careless and prohibited driving and no proof of liability insurance.  He was ordered to appear in court on May 30.
