Deputy's weapon stolen from car | Crime
A Cross County sheriff’s deputy’s trip to the movies did not have a happy ending.
According to Jonesboro police, the deputy reported his stainless steel Baretta pistol was stolen from his vehicle sometime Tuesday night.
The deputy told investigators he had placed the weapon under his car seat before going into the Malco Hollywood Cinema, 2407 E. Parker Road.
Following the movie, the deputy said he then went to Walmart. When he came out of the store that’s when he realized the gun was missing. Thinking a group of people in a nearby pickup truck had taken it, the deputy followed the truck and called police. The truck was stopped and a Jonesboro police officer performed a search but did not find the missing gun.
