Man accused of attacking couple with knife, baseball bat | Crime
A Jonesboro man is being held in the Craighead County Detention Center accused of assaulting a couple with a knife and a baseball bat.
Just after one o’clock Thursday afternoon, police were called to the 800-block of Creath Street.
When officers arrived, Edward Spurlock and Jessica Malick told them a “crazy dude just tried to hurt us with a baseball bat and a knife.”
The suspect, 43-year-old Kevin Ray Kiefer, was described as “very intoxicated,” according to the police report.
Officer John Eidson, Jr. said Kiefer claimed the victim chased him with the bat. According to Eidson’s report, Kiefer “then started cursing and telling the victim to ‘bring it on.”
Kiefer was arrested on charges of aggravated assault, 3rd degree battery and criminal mischief.
After he was handcuffed and was being led to the patrol car, Kiefer reportedly fell and scratched his nose. Eidson reportedly took Kiefer to St. Bernards Regional Medical Center where he was checked for injuries and released into police custody.
