Burglars ransack home, paint gang signs on furniture and walls | Crime
Six hours. That’s how much time Jonesboro police say burglars needed to ransack a woman’s apartment and spray paint gang signs on the walls and furniture.
The woman told police she left her home in the 900-block of Best St. around 9 p.m. Wednesday. When she returned at 3 a.m. Thursday, she found her apartment had been vandalized.
According to the police report, the vandals stopped up the drains in the kitchen and bathrooms and turned on the water. As much as an inch of water covered the apartment floors.
The suspects also reportedly spray painted gang signs on the walls, couches, mattresses, and the washer and dryer. According to police the signs “indicated that the suspects were a part of the Gangster Disciples.”
The victim said she did not know anyone in the “Gangster Disciples” and that no one was mad at her.
In addition to the vandalism, the woman said the burglars also stole a flat screen TV and a computer.
Neighbors told police they did not hear any noises coming from the victim’s apartment and did not see anyone near the area while she was away.
