JPD: Parolee carted back to jail for stealing printer cartridge

A Jonesboro parolee is back behind bars after police say he stole a printer cartridge from a local grocery store.

It all started around 10 o’clock Sunday night at the Kroger store on South Caraway.

According to Officer Logan Hall, a store manager reported seeing 29-year-old Michael V. Coleman open “a box of HP printer ink with a pair of scissors and put it in his pocket.”

When the manager confronted Coleman,  he reportedly “took off running.”

Officer Hall was “directly beside the Shell station” at the corner of Nettleton and Caraway when he saw Coleman “running directly toward” him.  Hall jumped out of his car and chased Coleman a short distance before he surrendered.

When asked why he ran, Coleman reportedly said “That guy said he was going to call the cops on me.”

Coleman, who is on parole, was arrested and charged with shoplifting and fleeing.  A parole hold was also placed on him.
