JPD: Man tried to pawn stolen bow to victim's friend | Crime
A man apparently picked the wrong pawn shop to get rid of some alleged ill-gotten gain.
On Thursday, Jonesboro police arrested 26-year-old Justin Dale Reed of Tyronza on felony theft by receiving charges after they say he tried to pawn a stolen compound bow valued at $1,100.
According to the initial report, Reed tried to sell the bow at Jims Pawn Shop, 3711 E. Highland Drive. However, the sales clerk reportedly recognized the item as having been taken from a friend’s home during a recent burglary. Her friend had posted a list of the stolen property on Facebook.
The woman called a local sporting goods store and confirmed the serial number they had on file, then called the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office where the burglary had taken place. They advised her to contact the Jonesboro Police Department.
Reed was arrested and taken to the Craighead County Detention Center where a hold was placed on him for Mississippi County officials.
