Man arrested for trying to sell quarter pounder...of pot | Crime
A Jonesboro man faces multiple felony charges after police say he agreed to sell them a quarter pound of marijuana.
Officers arrested Corey D. Austin, 29, after he reportedly sent a text message to an undercover Drug Task Force agent agreeing to sell him four ounces of marijuana for $400.
According to the incident report, Austin was arrested at his home in the 1300-block of North Church St. after agreeing to meet the agent there.
While another officer took Austin into custody, the DTF agent conducted a probation search on his home. The agent reported finding a plastic bag containing approximately 6.6 ounces of suspected marijuana, a digital scale and .357 Smith and Wesson revolver. A check of the weapon’s serial number revealed it had been stolen.
Austin was taken to the Craighead County Detention Center where he was charged with the following:
- Possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance with the purpose to deliver-felony
- Possession of drug paraphernalia-felony
- Simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms-felony
- Possession of a firearm by certain persons-felony
