JPD: Medical marijuana shipped to local business | Crime
A Jonesboro man apparently couldn’t wait for Arkansas voters to decide on the medical marijuana bill.
On Wednesday police were dispatched to Metz TV and Appliance, 1420 S. Caraway Rd., after the business received a package containing clothes and marijuana.
According to the initial police report, the package was shipped from Denver to Kentarian Trashawn Brown.
Inside the package officers discovered a shoe box containing four Ziploc bags. One of the bags was labeled “Holy Grail. Medical use only. Not for resale. Amendment 20 and HB1284 compliant.” Another bag was labeled “Platinum OG.” Amendment 20 and HB1284 refer to Colorado state laws legalizing medical marijuana.
Joel T. Doyle, manager of the Metz store, said they own the entire shopping plaza and leased Suite E to Brown who opened a business called KB Urban Wear. He said Brown closed the clothing store after six months because it wasn’t making any money.
Officers were unable to contact Brown. The marijuana was logged into evidence.
