Police investigating early morning home invasion

A Jonesboro man got a rude awakening Tuesday morning when two men barged into his home and robbed him at gunpoint.

The man told police around 3 a.m. he was awakened by a knock at his apartment door in 1000-block of Markle Street.

He told police when he asked who was at the door, a man with a “southern hick accent” replied, “Dude, I hit your ride.”

The victim opened the door to find two white men wearing black facemasks and black hooded sweatshirts.  He said one of the men was holding a small automatic pistol.

The man said the suspects forced him into the bathroom closet and blocked it while they ransacked his apartment.  According to the police report, the suspects stole several hundred dollars in cash along with a stereo system and a DVD player, both valued at $50 each.

A short time later the man said he heard one of the suspects say “Come on” and then the door slammed.   He did not hear any car doors shut or a vehicle drive away.

Police searched the area, but could not find the suspects.  However, fresh ruts were reported in the side yard leading south onto Markle Street.
