JPD: Despite alarm, suspect tries to break into home | Crime
A burglar alarm apparently didn’t stop someone from trying to break into a woman’s home just before 7:30 Thursday night.
The woman told police she was sitting in the living room of her home, located in the 2000-block of Deering Cove, when she saw a “large shadow” at the “back door attempting to twist the locked door knob.”
The suspect then kicked the back door, attempting to gain entrance into the home, and set off the burglar alarm.
The woman told police she began screaming and the unknown suspect “still attempted to get into the residence, even with the alarm going off.”
According to the police report, the suspect left the scene before officers arrived. Nothing was taken from the home.
Police have increased patrols in the neighborhood.
