JPD identifies possible suspect in big Best Buy shoplifting case | Crime
Jonesboro police have identified a man suspected of trying to steal more than $3,700 worth of electronics and gaming equipment from Best Buy, 3000 East Highland.
Police are searching for 24-year-old Robert Nassar of Sherwood.
On Monday a man matching Nassar’s description loaded a shopping cart with Xboxes, PS3 systems, games and other electronic equipment and pushed it out of the store without paying. Following a brief chase by a store employee, the man hopped into a dark-colored SUV driven by a woman and drove off, leaving the merchandise behind.
According to Detective Chris Poe of the Jonesboro Police Department, Nassar was arrested earlier this month for a similar heist at the Best Buy store in Bryant. He was reportedly released from jail on Sunday, December 16.
Nassar’s mug shot was shown to the two employees who witnessed the attempted theft and, according to the store manager, “they both felt confident that it was the same person.”
