Burglars caught on camera "dropping in" on Big Lots | Crime
Police say a couple of burglars were caught on camera early Friday morning literally dropping in on a Jonesboro business.
Around 2:30 a.m. officers were called to the Big Lots store, 1907 Woodsprings Road, in reference to an alarm.
According to Officer Jon Baker’s initial report, store surveillance video showed two men enter the building through a roof hatch. The first subject dropped down from a ceiling tile onto a shelf, then scaled down the shelf to the floor.
A short time later, a second subject “could be seen hanging from where the roof hatch is located, then dropped into the store.”
Officer Baker reported he found a comforter and pillow near a cabinet containing electronics. The lock and a piece of glass on the cabinet had been removed and were lying on the floor with several other items, including digital cameras, a DVD player and Bluetooth keyboard case.
The subjects were also caught on camera entering the cash register area where they removed a till. It was found lying on top of a pink bag.
The crooks then tried to leave through the locked front doors, but were unsuccessful.
The video showed one of the subjects “then tried to climb back up the shelf and go back up to the roof hatch.” But was unsuccessful.
Finally the two subjects ran out the back fire door, triggering the store’s alarm.
No word on what items the burglars stole.
