Church thief steals pastor's cash, donations during service | Crime
While some people were busy praying and singing during Sunday evening services at Living Word Church, someone else was busy stealing cash and checks from the church office.
Monday morning Jonesboro police were called to the church, located at 5601 Southwest Dr., regarding the theft of property..
Pastor Denny Beavers told Officer Jason Bissett that sometime during the Sunday evening service, someone gained entry to the office and stole $20 from his wallet. The crook also took an envelope containing $40 from his assistant’s desk and a check for $25 from a church member.
The church had also been collecting baby bottles filled with change. Pastor Beavers estimated they had collected as much as $200 to $300.
The thief took that money, as well.
