JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Police say a brother and sister are accused of two robberies in Jonesboro over the weekend.

According to Jonesboro police, Jeremy and Tiffany Barrow were arrested after a carhop was robbed at Sonic, and a person was robbed at gunpoint at the Barnhills Country Buffet Restaurant Saturday night.

Police say Jeremy Barrow robbed the carhop at the Sonic at the intersection of Nettleton and Matthews around 8:30pm and then robbed a person at the Barnhills Country Buffet Restaurant about 20 minutes later.

This weekend marks the beginning of Spring Break for many Arkansas college and high school students.

It also marks the beginning of two law enforcement operations dedicated to identifying and arresting young drivers who might be drunk or impaired.

Arkansas State Police are teaming up with local law enforcement agencies across the state and Your Region 8 to reduce drunk driving.

Between March 9-18 and April 13-22, expect to see increased patrols and sobriety checkpoints.

A woman convicted twice for failing to register as a Level 2 sex offender in Craighead County faces the same charges now in Lawrence County, according to Sheriff Jody Dotson.

On Wednesday, March 6, deputies arrested 35-year-old Pauline Lomax at a home in Walnut Ridge.

According to an email from Sheriff Dotson, investigators learned the Lomax had moved from her previous address without notifying his office.

When deputies went to the home they were told by others that Lomax did indeed live there and that she would contact the sheriff’s office.

A man who police say robbed a Sonic employee apparently had “kids to feed.”

The holdup happened just after 10:30 Tuesday night at the Sonic Drive-In at 724 South Gee.

The worker told police she was in the stall on the northeast corner of the building when an African-American man approached her.

The man demanded her apron, which had more than $100 in it. 

According to the initial police report, he told the worker “he didn’t want to hurt her, but he had kids to feed.”

Teens and young adults who plan to celebrate Spring Break with a beer or two better make sure they designate a driver.

Starting this Friday Jonesboro police will be cracking down on underage drinking and driving.

According to a news release from Sgt. Lyle Waterworth, the JPD will step up enforcement March 8-17 and April 12-21.

Officers will be out in force looking for all impaired drivers, especially young adults and teens who choose to drink and drive.

A Jonesboro woman was arrested on DWI charges after police say she slammed into a mobile home then tried to leave the scene of the accident in a child’s battery-operated truck.

Jamie Jeanette Craft, 29, is also charged with public intoxication, refusal to submit, disorderly conduct, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage and driving while license cancelled, suspended or revoked.
