Popular gospel duo to perform for Relay for Life

 

Enjoy an evening of great gospel music while helping fight cancer.

The “We are Family” Relay for Life team is hosting a concert at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at the Collins Theater featuring popular Southern gospel duo Jeff and Sheri Easter.

Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door.

Tickets may be purchased at Paragould Flea Market and Antiques, Room to Grow, Postnet, Treasure House and Amazing Things Flea Market.  All proceeds will benefit the Relay for Life.

Collins Theater is located at 2 West Emerson St. in downtown Paragould.

The Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library will kick off National Library Week with a visit by someone who knows a lot about books.

Mary Gay Shipley, the former owner of That Bookstore in Blytheville (TBIB), will be the library’s guest speaker at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 14, in the Round Room.

Shipley opened TBIB in 1976.  For years it was a hot spot for visiting authors, including John Grisham who was a regular visitor to the book store on Blytheville’s Main Street.

Annual Health & Fitness Expo set for April 19-21

 

The sixth annual St. Bernards Medical Group Health and Fitness Expo will be held Friday, April 19, through Sunday, April 21, at the ASU Convocation Center.

During the three-day event, area residents can take advantage of free health screenings and visit hundreds of booths featuring health and fitness services and products.  There will also be live demonstrations, educational programs, entertainment and free physicals for student athletes enrolled in Craighead County schools.

They'll be serving up beans and bluegrass at the First Baptist MAC Center tonight and it's all for a good cause.

The Beans, Cornbread and Bluegrass Music Benefit will start at 5 p.m. with dinner at the MAC Center, 322 SW Front St. in Walnut Ridge. 

Everyone is invited to load up on homemade beans, cornbread, dessert and drink.

Nothing says summer like baseball and bar-be-cue.

Tonight you can help disabled kids all across Northeast Arkansas play ball while enjoying a delicious BBQ dinner.

At 6 p.m. the inaugural Weiner Pig Roast benefiting the Miracle League of Jonesboro will be held at the Weiner High School Gym.

ASU Red Wolves Coach Bryan Harsin and several politicians, including Rep. Rick Crawford, will be on hand to meet and greet.

In addition to good ‘cue, there will also be door prizes, live and silent auctions, and live entertainment with Trey Stafford emceeing.

Annual auto show rolls into Jonesboro this weekend

Rev up your engines and motor your way to the 24th Annual Jonesboro Auto Show.

Presented by the University Heights Lions Club, the show will be held Saturday and Sunday, April 6-7, at the ASU Convocation Center.

In addition to all makes and models of cars and trucks, there will also be a one-of-a-kind carbon fiber Corvette specially built for and autographed by NASCAR driver Mark Martin.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, with the awards ceremony at 4 p.m. Sunday.

Ride to benefit missing girl's family

The #2 LegitAutos club will host a benefit ride for Sidney Randall on Saturday, April 6, starting at 9 a.m. at the Jonesboro Bowling Center, 3102 Shelby Dr. in Jonesboro.

The first group will leave at 9:30 a.m. and the last will roll out at 10:45 a.m.  All cars, trucks and motorcycles are welcome.

The cost is $10 per hand and $5 for additional hands with payouts to the best and worst hands.  All other money raised will be given to Sidney Randall’s family.

A raffle will also be held after the ride.  Tickets are $1 each or 10 for $5.
