Elks to honor police, medics, firefighters with breakfast

September 10 through 16 has been designated National Patriotism Week.

To honor our local medics, firefighters and police officers, the Jonesboro Elks Lodge will hold a “Law and Order Breakfast” from 7 until 11 a.m. this Saturday, September 8.

The breakfast will coincide with the VFW Charity Poker Run.  The lodge, located at 2113 W. Washington, is the first stop on the poker run, so breakfast will also be available to the riders.

Breakfast will be free to all firefighters, medics and police officers.  The price is $5 for all others.

Illusionist to perform at The Ritz

One thing can be said about illusionist Reza:  he’s not your typical magician!

Rather than pulling rabbits out of hats, Reza can make a playing card disappear from a young woman’s hand then reappear on the end of a switchblade knife.   When it comes to his act, he doesn’t “phone it in;” instead, he can put a phone inside a blown-up balloon without bursting it.
