NEA Baptist Hospital hosting blood drive

 

According to the American Red Cross, during the summer when temperatures go up the number of blood donations goes down.

Today, you have a chance to help fill their blood bank.

NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital, 3024 Stadium Blvd. in Jonesboro, is holding a blood drive from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. in the hospital dining room.

Everyone is invited to come out, roll up their sleeve and give the gift of life.

Stress eating away at your life?

On Thursday, June 28, learn how to ease stress while enjoying a free lunch.

St. Bernards will host a free lunch and learn at noon in the conference room at the St. Bernards Health & Wellness Institute, 1416 E. Matthews Ave.

“Stress Management and the Body” will be the topic of the hour-long session presented by Jana Haskins, who is a licensed social work professional.

Northeast Arkansas women battling gynecological cancers will soon have access to “world-class treatment in Jonesboro.”

St. Bernards Healthcare announced Monday it’s teaming up with Clopton Clinic and The West Clinic of Memphis.  Under the agreement, Drs. Todd Tillmanns and Mark Reed, gynecologic oncology specialists, will be on the medical staff at St. Bernards.  Tillmanns will serve as lead surgeon.

High school students interested in a career in healthcare are invited to attend the NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital Nursing Camp.

The free three-day camp will be held from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, through Thursday, June 28.

Participants will receive CPR, first aid and vital sign training.  They will also have the opportunity to job shadow a healthcare professional for a more hands-on learning experience.  They will also be given a tour of the hospital.

Brad Parsons has been named administrator and CEO of NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro.

Parsons will replace Paul Betz, who has accepted a position as administrator of process improvement for Baptist Memorial Health Care.

A native of Birmingham, Parsons most recently served as administrator and CEO of Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City in Tennessee.

The Northeast Arkansas PEER Network will hold its monthly meeting tonight from 6 until 7:30 at the UAMS Center on Aging Northeast, 303 E. Matthews in Jonesboro.

The Arkansas Prostate Cancer Foundation PEER Network provides a safe and confidential environment for men to talk freely about their experiences as they progress through the stages of diagnosis, treatment and recovery for prostate cancer.  Wives and friends and all survivors are welcome to attend.

AMMC hosting "Mommy and Me" support group meeting

 

Attention new and expectant mothers:  Arkansas Methodist Medical Center and the Green County Health Unit are teaming up to help you.

AMMC will sponsor a Mommy and Me breastfeeding class on Monday, June 18, from 6 until 7:30 p.m. in the Professional Office Building auditorium.

The class is an opportunity for new and expectant mothers to meet other moms and share experiences.
