Not to leave their customers in the dark, Craighead Electric Cooperative is letting people know the power will be out for about an hour on Monday, March 4.
According to an email from Monty Williams, vice president of marketing and communications, workers will “de-energize the Monette substation” between 1 and 2 p.m. Monday while they transfer the current load to the new Black Oak substation.
The substation and transmission line, which have been under construction for nine months, will help ease the load on the Lake City substation and eliminate the Monette substation.
Williams says it should help improve electric service in eastern Craighead County.
The outage should last about 45 minutes and will affect Craighead Electric members in west of the St. Francis River, including the following communities: Monette, Childress, Black Ok, Red Onion, Rivervale and Caraway.
If your power does not come back on after the planned outage, Williams urges you to call 1-888-771-7772.
