Officers release names in Jonesboro police pursuit | News
AR (KAIT) – Police say the vehicle used during a car chase in Jonesboro was
listed as a stolen vehicle in Las Vegas, Nevada.
to initial reports from arresting officers, 33-year-old Adrian Johnson, of
Southaven, MS, and 24-year-old Jimmy Dewayne Tribblet, were arrested Tuesday
night after a police chase through Jonesboro.
of the officers said he originally tried to make a traffic stop on a Blue
Hyundai Sonata with Nevada tags on east Matthews Ave. because the driver was
not wearing a seatbelt.
of stopping, Johnson turned the Sonata north on the Marion Berry Overpass and
proceeded over the bridge, according to Officer Chris Perry. He also adds that
while the Sonata was moving, he could see that the driver was throwing plastic
baggies full of small items from the car.
run of the plates indicated that the car had been stolen from a place called EZ
Rent-A-Car in Las Vegas, say officers.
say they were led from Matthews Ave. to Aggie Rd., from Aggie Rd. to State St.,
across E Johnson Ave. and back onto State St. before turning east onto Belt St.
say the driver stopped about 20 yards from the intersection of Belt St. and N. Caraway
Road before he started fleeing on foot. Tribblet and a third passenger were taken
into custody while an officer in another cruiser chased Johnson.
say a search inside the vehicle revealed a clear plastic baggy containing
numerous smoked blunts.
had three COC Non-Payment of fine warrants out of Jonesboro. He was issued a
citation for COC Non-Payment of fines. His court date is set for May 16 and is
being held in lieu of $591 bond.
was issued citations for fleeing in a vehicle, fleeing on foot, reckless
driving, no seatbelt, driving on a suspended license, and has a hold placed on
him for theft by receiving greater than $25,000. He is expected in court May 16
and has a misdemeanor bond set at
The third passenger, a female, was released.
