Arkansas delegation requests swift agricultural disaster assistance

U.S. Senators Mark Pryor and John Boozman, along with Congressman Rick Crawford, are urging the Department of Agriculture to provide disaster assistance for Arkansas.

After months of extreme drought, on Tuesday Governor Mike Beebe requested a disaster declaration for all 75 counties in the state.

On Wednesday, the senators and First District representative along with Tim Griffin (AR-2), Steve Womack (AR-3) and Mike Ross (AR-4) wrote a letter supporting the request.

The delegation's letter of support can be seen here.

If approved, farmers and ranchers could apply for emergency loans through the Farm Service Agency.
