Arkansas Ride for the Cure tops last year's event | News
JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Hundreds of cyclists participated in the fourth annual Arkansas Ride for the Cure Saturday.
St. Bernard's Health and Wellness Institute hosted the recreational bike ride for the first time.
All the proceeds from the event benefit the Arkansas affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Organizers expect to surpass last year's donation of $3,000 dollars.
"This is the largest event we've ever had as far as support in spirit riders, the people that didn't actually ride, but supported us financially," said event founder and co-chair Andy Shatley. "This is the most actual riders on the course that we've ever had too."
The riders could choose between a 10, 20, or 50-mile course.
The 2012 event honoree is one-year cancer survivor Heather Rohlfing of Jonesboro. Heather's husband Tommy took part in the ride.
