JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Kids went out this weekend to celebrate their last few days of summer.

Kids on the Mile was hosted at the St. Bernards Auditorium on Saturday.

The event was sponsored by the St. Bernards Women's Advisory Council.

Kids were able to get their faces painted, pet animals and do much more.

School supplies were also offered for kids in kindergarten through fourth grade.

Christina Ryan, the director of HMG, says she was pleased with the event.

"It was crazy," she explained. "It was great. There were lots of people that turned out today.

"It's been a lot of fun, lots of kids coming through very excited about school starting and all the free stuff and all the activities."

The event also starred Spud the Clown, and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission brought an aquarium.

DARE trucks, SWAT and Jonesboro Fire and Hazardous Materials joined in the festivities.
