Ministry benefit draws thousands to ASU campus | News
JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – About 8,000 people attended a benefit this weekend for an area drug and alcohol rehabilitation program.
The John 3:16 Ministries moved their biggest fundraiser to the ASU Convocation Center this year to accommodate the much larger crowd.
The doors to the Second Annual Community Fest opened around 3 p.m. Saturday, with people grabbing a bite to eat and listening to some music.
They also heard testimonies from some ex-addicts and alcoholics who benefited from the program.
Director Bryan Tuggle says the event celebrates the 88 men who have sought the ministry's help. "In God's word, it says that He will do exceedingly, abundantly more than we ask or think," Tuggle said. "This is the living testimony of how God will do that. "He'll choose the foolish ones to do His work.
He's taken 88 ex-addicts and alcoholics and through that to make a way where we can do all this here tonight."
The community fest is the largest of the ministry's four major fundraisers.
