JPD makes arrests in suspected meth lab, one suspect still at large | News
JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Jonesboro police arrested two people Tuesday afternoon on Nisbett Street in downtown Jonesboro durinmg a meth lab bust.
Rebecca Standridge, of Jonesboro, and Donna Thomas, of Trumann, were arrested on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of psuedoephedrine with the intent to manufacture.
Police are searching for a third male suspect who is on the run.
Residents who live near the house where police made the arrests said generally the neighborhood is peaceful. However, in the last several years they have seen an increase in police presence and suspicious activity.
"I've got some good neighbors, and they're friendly. I feel pretty much safe here except for there's a couple of houses that something needs to be done about because they're vacant, the windows are broke out in it, the doors are pushed open, I see people coming and going out of it," said Rick Bowen. "I'm real concerned because it's right next to the elementary school and I don't want our children to be around it."
MicroSociety Magnet School is located at 1110 West Washington, which is a little more than one-tenth of a mile away from the house where police made the arrests.
Jonesboro Public Schools Assistant Superintendent Charles Cobbs said the situation did not interfere with school operations, and police did not call the school to notify administrators of any problems.
Police have not released a name or description of the male who fled the scene.
