Casting about for something fun to do with the kids? The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has some ideas that should hook their interest.
The AGFC will host a beginner trout fishing clinic on Friday, December 7, from 6 until 7 p.m. at the Forrest L. Wood-Crowley’s Ridge Nature Center, 600 East Lawson Rd. in Jonesboro.
The first 50 kids through the doors will attend a voucher for a free rod and reel, redeemable at the fishing derby which will be held the next day, Saturday, December 8, from 9 a.m. until noon at the Craighead Forest Youth Pond in Jonesboro.
In addition to the rod and reel, there will be other door prizes and gifts.
The derby is open to all kids, not just those who attend the fishing clinic. Just don’t forget to bring your own bait and tackle.
