Meet the new Mr. Williams Baptist College.

David Owiti of Nyeri, Kenya, was crowned Friday, February 8, in the Southerland-Mabee Center on the Walnut Ridge campus.

Nicholas Scarbrough of Batesville was voted Mr. Congeniality by his fellow contestants. 

Trenton Neeley of Strawberry was presented the talent award. 

The runners-up were Jeff Morris of Bono, Brandt McDonald of Drasco and Bobby Wheeler, Jr. of Marion.

Nine contestants took part in the competition.

An associate professor is now a dean at Arkansas State University.

Dr. Anne Grippo, who has woked in the Department of Biological Sciences at ASU since 1995, is an associate dean of the College of Sciences and Mathematics.

Dean of the college, Dr. John Pratte, says Grippo will be very involved with the students.

St. Bernards Heart and Vascular (formerly Cardiology Associates) welcomes Dr. Anil Kumar to its staff.

According to a news release from St. Bernards Healthcare, the cardiologist comes to Jonesboro following a fellowship at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA.  Before that he spent three years serving an internal medicine residency at New York Medical College, South Shore Medical Center of Westchester in New Rochelle, NY.

ASU Debate Team, MissCo student continue winning streak

ASU Debate Team, MissCo student continue winning streak

 

The Arkansas State Debate Team, including team member Ken Corbit of Leachville, continue to dominate the competition.

Recently the team competed at the University of Tennessee Volunteer Classic in Knoxville and brought home top honors in both the parliamentary (team) and public (individual) debate divisions.

In team debate, Corbin and Micah Christensen of Cheyenne, Wyoming, completed an undefeated tournament with a 2-1 decision over Morehouse College in the final round of parliamentary debate.
